We ranked this year's best by sound quality (independent lab measurements), voice-assistant intelligence, smart-home compatibility, and privacy practices.

How We Tested

Every speaker was tested on sound quality (frequency response measured in an anechoic chamber, distortion at reference SPL), voice recognition (success rate across 50 common commands with background noise), smart-home protocol breadth (Matter, Thread, HomeKit, Zigbee), and privacy (on-device processing, mic mute hardware switch, data retention policies). Microphone arrays were tested at 1m, 3m, and 6m distances.
