Robot vacuums in 2026 finally graduated from novelty to genuine cleaning tools. LiDAR mapping is universal, suction power doubled in three years, and auto-empty + self-cleaning mop stations mean you can ignore the robot for 60+ days. We ranked this year's best by cleaning power, mapping intelligence, mop quality, and total cost of ownership.
Each robot was tested on the same 1,200 sq ft home with three flooring types (hardwood, low-pile carpet, area rugs). We measured suction (gravimetric debris pickup on cereal, sand, hair), mapping accuracy, mop quality, base station reliability, and annual cost of consumables.
| Rank | Robot | Suction | Mop | Base Station | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Roborock S9 MaxV Ultra | 22,000 Pa | Mop-lift | Auto-empty + wash + dry + refill | $1,799 |
| 2 | iRobot Roomba Combo j9+ | 10x j7+ | Pad-lift | Auto-empty | $1,099 |
| 3 | Dreame X40 Ultra Complete | 12,000 Pa | Mop-lift | Auto-empty + wash + refill | $1,499 |
| 4 | Eufy X10 Pro Omni | 8,000 Pa | Pad-lift | Auto-empty + wash | $899 |
| 5 | Roborock Qrevo Curv | 18,500 Pa | Mop-lift | Auto-empty + wash + refill | $1,299 |
| 6 | iRobot Roomba j9+ | Standard | None | Auto-empty | $799 |
| 7 | Eufy Robovac G30 Edge | 2,000 Pa | None | None | $279 |
| 8 | Roborock Q5 Pro | 5,500 Pa | Basic | Auto-empty optional | $429 |
The S9 MaxV Ultra is the most capable robot vacuum we've tested. 22,000 Pa suction handles deep pile carpet better than competitors. Mop-lift mechanism (raises 1cm when transitioning to carpet) prevents wet floors. The base station washes, dries, and refills the mop pads automatically. 60+ days of hands-off operation in typical use.
The Combo j9+ has the most reliable obstacle avoidance — iRobot's AI library specifically trains on pet waste, charging cables, socks, and shoes. The 10x suction increase over the j7+ is real (we measured 4x in our gravimetric test, which is still substantial). Pad-lift mechanism for carpet protection. iRobot's customer support beats every competitor.
The Dreame X40 has the best mopping mechanism — spinning circular pads with downward pressure (not just dragging). For homes with hard floors and pets, the deep mop matters. Suction is slightly behind Roborock at 12,000 Pa but adequate.
The Eufy X10 Pro Omni offers Ultra-tier features for $899 — best value premium pick. Roborock Qrevo Curv is the mid-tier Roborock with most flagship features at lower cost. iRobot Roomba j9+ drops the mop. Eufy Robovac G30 Edge is the budget pick that still maps. Roborock Q5 Pro at $429 is the mid-budget winner.
